And I knew it was different with you
because I had never once known this feeling
of coming home from a war.
Emotions shell-shocked and edgy,
limbs tired and aching from
trying so desperately to hold on,
brain fuzzy from little-to-no sleep,
voice hoarse from misuse,
ears ringing with the words
that were never even spoken.
My body feels like it was dragged through a minefield
and although my heart is still intact,
it is no longer in one piece.
Sometimes, ya just gotta let the emotions out.
