Well, the clock struck midnight
and it became abundantly clear
that the fairy-godmother had let us
The revelry stopped
the lights came up
and the masks came off,
leaving you and I dazed
wondering where the magic went.
I ran for the hills
and didn't leave a slipper
(although I did leave a note, if that counts).
I gave you no reason to search for me
although we both knew you weren't
unlike the fairy-tales,
I am not your princess
and you are not
my Prince Charming.
I would have been better off with a frog.
Sometimes, ya just gotta let the emotions out.
